lol this contest stuff keeps me laughin...its good we can all tease eachother and noone sits at home and crys lol. cant wait till the bucks start droppin...
rob...good luck with that big ole boy. cant wait to hear the huntin stories!
i just remembered a spot that ALWAYS has nice bucks in it. its a private apple orchard that has a creek AND a huge nasssssssty thicket to the side of it. my buddy worked for them. im going to see if i cant pull off permission to hunt there. evenings that spot would be awesome so long as the wind was good. newyears eve one year i seen THREE back there. a 1.5 a 2.5 and a 3.5yr old. PLUS numerous does! the only way to hunt it is get into that orchard. noone really knows about it because its hidden on the side of a hill. other guys hunt the woods around it but the deer bust them and wind them before they would venture out of the thicket. that orchard has a highway pouring into it from the thicket. im going to see what i can work out. i forgot all about that spot. cant wait..going to do some work on the bow tonight..put down some mole skin..tie a new loop etc...cant wait...

I need a pledge from one of my teammates.
My math isn't stellar.....but if we score an AVERAGE of 100" a piece......we'll win. So.....who's gonna make up the difference between my buck and 100"?
I'm on stand, tomorrow morning.
Jeff

SBGobblers, sorry I am going with the Atlasman method of deer hunting, close my eye's and shoot. Won't know what it is until I "Roll it over", LOL
Well I came to work late, and I have been glassing the fields this week. I am not a big game camera guy, I like to keep my distance, but I think I have the 8 pretty well patterned. Now the youth hunt may screw me, but I think I have a good shot at him Oct 1st(as long as I can keep my eye's off the squirrels).
We planted a new CRP field, the grass is 5 and 6 feet tall, and where the river, corn field and this field meet I have put a stand there. Where he is going into the corn to bed down for the day. Will see!!!

Jeff (SBG), I'll take on that respondsibility..
but your bucks there look good. Hell the buck I'm going to arrow this year will carry ya'll and be a new World Record...that's my goal anyway same as the last two years but I fell short...LOL[8D] Besides, I don't think we'll need a 1000 to take this, last years 800 plus was a fluke..those boys can't repeat it.[8D]
Actually I really hope they do and we still one up em.

SB...those bucks look good to me..if they are 100inches or better they gota be CLOSE. im sorry to say it but if its legal(4pt to a side) im drawing and probably releasing. i want to holdout for a nice one..and i know theres a few around..but so does everyone else around here. im going to have alot of competition. besides that its my first year bowhunting. and besides that anything with 4 to a side or better would beat both my rifle bucks(small 6pts). i dont wanna let you guys down but to me right now any deer with a bow will be an accomplishment and a trophy..exspecially a buck. as team captain
i say dont let the contest determine what you shoot. this is all for fun and bragging rights. it would be awesome to win...and i hope we do..that would be awesome..but even if well all get skunked we will still have a good time..swap alot of great tips and stories etc...to me thats what this is all about. dont pass on bucks youd take if you werent in the contest or anything. even if we all shoot 80 inch bucks we still have a HECK of a chance. dont let the contest get you all worked up. get out there..hunt hard...give it your all and whatever we end up with we end up with. it would be awesome if we all took 150+ inchers..but i dont think any of us hunt game farms so i doubt that happens! lol. i just hope to heck i can get me a buck. if i do the board will most likely crash...my story will be 4 miles long...and you guys will suffer through 1000000s of pics! lol. im excited....keep it fun and hunt hard and be safe.....good luck to all......
i hope noone gets mad about my post...thats just the way i see it..id hope everyone else agrees..but hope i didnt step on any toes..i know the goal is to win...but having fun and BSing with a bunch of guys is the most important part of the contest IMO...i cant wait to read some stories(sucessfull or not..) and gather some more great hunting tips to add to my arsnol...

Amen Captain!!!
Just for fun and to share hunting stories, some of my best hunts iswhereI failed.
Take the "log splitter buck" as I named him. It was 2000 hunting season, I had worked a ton of hours opening the Cabela's store in Dundee. I had shot a doe and a buck scored about 110''. I shot him 14th Nov, the last good day to bowhunt in MI. I had to getout of my stand and stalk the deer. Thefarmer had left 10 rows of corn in. I got him on the other side, worked out great, only deer I have killed from the ground. A good year, but I was looking for this really big 8. I did not see him in Nov, and thought he was dead.
Dec 11th I get a day off, I go hunt and it is cold. I had to chip the ice of my stand. At about 20 til 5 I see 25 doe's coming to me. They are walking down the wind row towards me. At this point I know they are going to come by. So I decided to shoot one, then I notice the deer trailing them. Yes it is the 8 pointer, now I am sure I am going to get my shot. I am all setup, the deer about 30 yds out. Then I hear it, my Dad had walked up to his wood pile(200 yds behind me) fired up the log splitter. Before gun season not an issue, but after it causes some issues. All the deer stopped and looked into the woods. Now it is dead quite and it sound like he is right in the woods. The deer walk across the field(other side) and bed down. I climb down and walk in, my Dad is loading up his wood. He ask for some help, I say "Bite me" and go home. Later I told him what happen, he laughed!!
