Yep, I've had no problem with the spray. But to be honest it does have a faint DEET smell so I still always play the wind accordingly. My Thermacell will get used the first few weeks of the season. As soon as the weather gets cold enough I don't need it anymore. But it's been great in the early season.

We're supposed to get a cold front moving through tonight and I think the overnight low for Wed. is supposed to be in the low 40's. Hopefully this cooler weather will start killing off some of those bugs.

i went to check it out last night. I'm not so sure it is even a deer from the area. There are truck or car tracks that shows that the deer was dumped off in the spot. the high weeds still showed the tracks when i was there. it was a big deer, but without a face it is hard to say. the piece of property i hunt is semi-private, mostly because a lot of people dont know it is there. A lot of horse farms are in the area and from what i'm told, deters people because the don't want to misplace a shot and land a horse. neighbors say that no one ever hunts the hill side, so i hope to be alone in the woods on the 30th. I had a nice 12 on camera as well, but he wasn't as high. Seeing this is my first year, anything would be nice, its just that 10 was/is a monster in my eyes.

Well I went out after work and it was much cooler. I could have used another layer. But there were no skeeters. I was able to see a bunch of deer including what looked to be a very good buck. No idea how many points but I would easily guess 8 or better. Very big bodied deer. I would say 200lbs or close to it.

At least your seeing some deer Copper. I always consider that a successful hunt even if I don't get a shot. Certainly much better than sitting on stand for hours and not seeing a thing.

Someday I only hope to see a big bodied 200+ pound deer. Around here they are rare. At least in the areas I hunt.

If you haven't already take a look at the "Quality Picture" thread at the top of the bow hunting section. Good stuff to go by.

If i am able to get in the woods and see deer then I am happy as a fat kid with a box of cup cakes. I have been lucky the last 5 years to have land with plenty of deer on it where I almost always see at leastcouple deer every hunt. I know guys that will go weeks with out seeing anything.

In the northern part of WI they are more common then one would think. Not that every other deer is 200lbs, and it isn't an everyday occurence it certainly happens to where it is believable. With that being said there are a lot of hunters (friends of mine) that guess their deer are 200lbs and then when you scale them they might be 160 - 170 at best. I myself have shot 2 that were in the 200 range. My biggest deer was a 10point 217 dressed. 6 1/2 year old deer with a bow. Then I shot an 8point w/ rifle 2 years ago that dressed out at 199lbs(close enough ) that deer was ages at 3 1/2. Otherwise the doe are around 120 to 150 and some of the other bucks were 140 to 170. I won a scale at a whitetail unlimited banquet a few years ago so I weigh everything now.
