No afternoon hunt. I thought it was going to be a little on the warm side but I don't think it got as warm as they said it would. I will be back out in the morning. I will be alone though so I am really hoping to at least score a doe for the earn a buck tag for rifle season. I have one from last year so if I do see a nicebuck I will consider taking it.

I saw your thread JM. Good for you. I am not against hunters who want to bait as long as it is legal. It makes it tough when you are going by the rules and someone 100yards away isn't. I hope tomorrow goes better for you. We are looking at storms coming through all day and then our temps are going to drop into the low 50's for a high and mid 30's for a low. I can't wait.

I got a call this morning from my mom. She was out riding her horse up above the barn where i've been scouting all season long. I've had my eye on a nice 10 point. Anyway, out on her ride she claims to have found a big dead deer with its head chopped off and a couple bullet holes through the body. Season doesn't come in until the 30th...I'd just hate to have all the work i've done this summer to be wasted by some cheater.

Thats not cool jwh. Lets hope it isn't the one you wanted to chase.
Good to hear something was done jmbuck. I don't hold much confidence in the DNR in WI.
I got out this morning to a stand that has been hung in the same tree for 3 years just never hunted. It was real busy this morning with deer. So that was good. The only bad part was the mesquitoes. I wanted to jump out of the stand they were so bad. I only mad it an hour before I had to sneak out of there. I will be going after work tomorrow, and with the temps as low as they are going to be I am sure I won't have any problem with bugs.

Copper, I've had great luck using a Thermacell for the past 2 seasons but it's not the greatest product on windy days. On those days I use the No Stinkin' Bugs spray from Scent Shield.

I bought a thermacell the other day and then a buddy of mine that I alsowork with talk me out of it. He made a good point about the weather in WI getting cold so why would I need one. I should have kept it. I also have the same spray you mentioned and I thought it would smell to much. On windy days I have no problems with bugs. I should have kept the thermacell even if I only used it a couple days. I will be hunting tonight and it is cool out and there is a nice breeze so I am not to worried. But I tell you I was ready to jump out of that stand on Sunday morning. My hands are still all welted up. But I may just bring the sent shield bug spray if you say you have used it with success.

I look forward to the days when my boys are old enough to join me in the woods.
