Well guys, after 50 days into the season and not seeing one mature deer in shooting light, I saw a nice 4.5 year old at 8 AM this morning as I was leaving for work. He looked to be the big deer I posted pics of with the drop off his right side, but had his head down, so I couldn't make out the point. Muzzleloader weekend is in this weekend, so I'll have to contend with the smokepolers, but I'll be there, bow in hand and hopefully he'll give us a good look.

hey everyone, havent posted in awhile. been hunting every weekend and some weekdays when i get a chance, have seen a few deer, some ok bucks, but nothing really nice. Just found out thought that the big one that we cought on camera was kicked out of a tree line next to our property last weekend by some pheasant hunters. On top of that there is a huge scrape that is right next to one of my stands, hoping its the big one. Illinois hunting trip is only one week away, so hoping that goes good too. Well good luck to everyone, hope you guys get the opportunity at the one your after.

Good Luck on your ILL. trip-born & raised there & now 30 min. away in Iowa. I have passed on a couple small Bucks-forky & little 6. Couple Does also but have plentry of time to fill the antlerless tags-like to keep them MaMas around for those bigger Bucks. I have a couple good Bucks in the areas I am hunting & that's what I am holding out for. I passed on about a 130 last year at less than 10 yards & never filled. Doubt if I can let that go this year but maybe. In 50 years of Bowhunting I have taken a few good ones & would like to get over 150 this year. Yes, I am spoiled with good Whitetails but then, I go WITHOUT filling my tag many times.
I am hoping my one Daughter will take a big Buck also BUT then, any Buck will fill the bill for her & we will be delighted if it happens. Good Luck again-it should start getting better for everyone each day now. Remember, we will be # "ONE" at the end of the season.

Hey guys....nothing doing this weekend. Went on Sat but the big boys didn't show. It's off to Kansas on Friday for five days in paradise. Buddy of mine has been seeing more 160 and 170s than he's seen in the past five years. He's scouting it out for me this week and I'll be in the stand next Saturday. Five days to get it done in the land of giants. Best of luck to you guys.

Went out Saturday to some Federal land and got a doe. I have to get a doe before I can get a buck in this area so now I am set.

I went to a spot that I hunted last year that I saw a lot of does at. Went out around 2pm and after I got all set up I started scanning the area, guess what I saw? Not 1, not 2 or 3 or 4 but 6 scrapes all within 35 yards of my tree!!!!! Holy Moly! All of them were active with paw marks in them. I will definately be up there this Friday. Last year a BIG 8 pointer was in that area so maybe he made it.

Well last check in before I'm off to Kansas. Man, Joey's buck that he posted has got my blood boiling. I wish all of you the best of luck. Deer are trucking here in KY and they say they are in KS as well. So, I'll have one week to fill my KS tag and since I didn't fill it last year, I'm not going home empty. I'll post some points by next week. Take care.

Sorry I havent been on in awhile, just got my buck this wednesday. He came out about 20 yards and was looking at me, so I rushed my shot, and i heard it crack, but where i shot there were some branches in the way, so i didnt know if I had hit him or not. After I shot he ran about 50 yards up the field and stood there for a few minutes, I called with the grunt and doe estrus call and he didnt respond at all. Then he went in the woods and presented me with a 40 yard shot and just as I was about to pull back again, he stumbled a bit, so I thought that I may have hit him and decided not to take the shot. Left him lay for 30 minutes and my uncle came over to help track him. My arrow was solid blood, but there wasnt much of a blood trail. We walked up to were he stopped in the field and my uncle said "where did you say he stumbled" and i showed him, and he says there he is and we both took a step. Just as we took a step the buck jumps up, appearing to be pretty strong and takes off in the thicket. After that I thought that my shot placement wasnt so good. So we let him lay for another hour and a half, come back to follow the blood and he ran another 60 yards and fell over while he was running. I know he isnt the big buck I was after this year, but this is a buck of a lifetime, and there is no way I would trade this deer for one of the other bigger bucks on our farm. The shot ended up going hitting the liver and exited out the gut, like I said I rushed my shot, but hes dead anyway. Oh yeah, I was reading that less than one percent of whitetail in the wild are piebald, well I got that less than one percent. Well heres one for the team.
