Florida puts Ohio to shame. What a beating!!!!

Went out again, with my brother this time, if you recall we had the falling out before bow season and blew our duck hunt. Well we didwell, the goose were just landing in the deeks and we did so little calling, we could have gotenaway without calling at all. We put down two and only found one of them, we had a light snow last night so I put on mytracking hat on and was tracking goose tracks through the woods!! I could not believe that thoes buggars would get up and run away!! This is addicting.

Congrats on the doe Dave

talk to you all soon
Mark

Arse whoopin last night by Florida. Coach Meyer had too many days to prep! Wow... what a lesson in game planning, he showed them a different formation and look on the first 3 drives! Every play! dang...I was impressed.

I was way off...but after the fact...looking at Floridas schedule again..its amazing they only had one loss. I doubt O. State would have done that well with Floridas schedule.

I'd like to see a play off too...

hey guys - thought I would give a quickie update on the upcomming XX addition - the Dr. put Laurie on partial bed rest last week - baby looks OK but fluid level had dropped (not to a critical level) - but wanted her activity reduced significantly so as not to hit that level.

Fran- no problem - I had been sidetracked and did not realize I had not gotten it yet anyway - Best of luck with the Exam!!

Troy - I had caught some of the nasty stuff you had been getting - thought you might have to tie-down to the cat a couple of days to keep from blowing away! - I feel like a complete turd - G wanted to pick 8 ears of corn (not sure where the 8 came from?) and send out to the boys earlier (in November when I had him out hunting) and I just did not get it done - he asked the other day if I thought they had gotten them and I had to fess up that I had not gotten that done. - I am sure he will remind me about that one for a long time to come!

Best of luck with the season!

Dave congrats on the doe - gotta love em!

Ryan - loved the pic in the ****** - we had a red '85 that was used as the hunting rig for a while - but no pic's - I did love that one.

Best of luck to everyone else - will try to get on later!

Mike

Hey guys sorry it has been so long. I have been busy out hunting. I am sorry to say I did not fill my buck tag this year. In the last 2 weeks I was in the stand 63 hours and saw over 100 deer. I did see some bucks but they were to small or I did not have a good shot to take. I was hoping to put one down but just could not do it.

I am short on time but I figured I would post and let you know what was going on.

Dave congrats on the doe.

Mike hope all goes well with the new addition to the family.

I am sure I missed something so I will try to get back on tomorrow and catch up.

William

Troy and Will - the way I figure, after the deer that you two scoundrels killed last year, you guys were due to get a good old-fashioned skunkin. LOL Just kiddin fellas.

That's a tough break, but you two canat least head into the offseasonknowing that you hunted hard. Nothing is worse than getting skunked and saying afterward "you know, I should have went out after work more often," or "I could've hunted those days in the rain." Just make the most of your time, and that's what you guys both did. Keep your heads up.

Rybo - I had to head down to Mount Lebanon last night for work. Man, those guys who hunt down there have it made. I bet I saw 100 deer in peoples' yards, hedgerows, fields and along the roads. City deer... Saw at least one really nice buck too. I think I might move. I think I saw one doe carrying a Fendi bag, and the buck was wearing Armani and sipping Starbucks. Those deer don't know how good they got it. LOL

Today is the last day of archery in IL. I'm not going to make it out, may make it out this weekend for the doe only gun season. Its all over Sunday at sunset. After that, I'll start scouting, hunting sheds, and saving some cash to go wreak havoc in PA with Fran in November.

Hey guys, like Dave said, he's planning on coming out for deer camp with me and the crew. At first, I didn't think his wife was gonna let him, but he must have been on his best behavior over the holidays. Either that, or he just got pitched out and now he has lots of free time on his hands. Hah.

Season starts the first Monday after Thanksgiving. I'm trying to save a full week of vacation for that week.

We'll be at Camp Gunsmoke along the Allegheny National Forest in Warren County, PA. Non-resident licenses run around $100 and come with a buck tag. Camp can sleep between 15-20. We usually have around 7-10 guys that come up to hunt the first two days. After that, everyone leaves, but this year I'll be sticking around for an extra few days, burningsaved vacation time. These deer don't see all that much pressure, so they're huntable if the weather cooperates.

If any of you other guys are interested in coming out for that, I will be more than happy to share camp with you. Rybo, I know you usually go with your dad, but if something comes upor you just decide thatwanna join us, let me know.

It's a good time, and if you've never experienced atrue"deer camp," it's probably worth your while. The hunting isn't the greatest, and out of 6 hunters, we bagged 2 bucks and a coyote in 2 days (7 & 8 pt.). Had another guy miss a chip shot on a nice 4x4 too. In a full week, you should have at least a shot at a legal buck.

My plan is to have Dave (and anyone else coming) to meet me at my place sometime on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Travel up there (2.5 hr drive) that night, get bunked, and scout/hang standsall day Sunday. Monday we start hunting.

We have electricity, but no TV or phone. Cell reception is spotty, but good at camp. We have running water but no water heater. Outhouse outside. Propane heat. We have a shower stall, but we have to heat bags of water to shower. It works fine, and you'll have no problem taking your scent-free showers.

Camp participants will include a wide variety of personalities, some guys who don't care about hunting at all, and just use the deer camp as an escape from their wives, and a few guys who really get after it. We'll probably have at least one guy who won't even leave the camp, so he's our designated cook. A few of the guys are pretty comical, and they have some really funny stories to tell.

If any of you are interested or want further info, just ask me. I'll post pictures of the camp sometime when I get one online. It's not as bad as it sounds, just no utilities on the road where camp is located.

If you want to fly in to Pittsburgh International, I can pick you up anytime Friday or Saturday. You won't need to rent a car or anything. I'll make arrangements to get you back there for departure whenever necessary.

Fran,

Thats aweful nice of you bud! I would love to come out and do that but my after Thanksgiving time is either gonna be tied up here or possibly in Iowa if I draw this year. It looks like Hia is coming elk hunting with me this coming season. That will be a hoot!

William, hey good to hear from you. Sorry to hear the buck you were looking for didnt show up it definately wasnt for lack of effort. Before you know it, we will be right back out there hunting again. Now you get to spend a little more time with your girls! Enjoy.

I'm getting the shed antler itch. 3 day weekend coming up. Got dumped on last night 6 inches, but thats not all bad, good for tracking and finding feeding hotspots this time of year.

Theres some great football on this weekend too, I hope to catch a game or two.

Fran,
I am in for that. My Dad's going back into retirement, so that's why I wanted to hang close this year. I've never went away for a Pa hunting camp deal, so I've never understood the big fuss over it. I'm sure it'll be cool for meto come up even if I ain't hunting? I can do pushes, or help cook some. I make a mean omelet.

Dave, you have no idea what you are in for coming to PA. After this you won't even come east to ohio for fear of getting too close to the PA mayhem. [8D]

William
Man you put some hours in bud. That's some dedication.

Mike
That ****** was a deer haulin machine. We'd stuff 2-3 in there a couple times. I been meaning to call ya, hopeully this weekend sometime.

Mark,
Yea I heard waterfowl was some fun hunting. Never tried it yet. I think those guys got to be the craziest of any hunter. cold temps and cold water...I'm getting chilly just thinking about it . Any time frame on when your buck will be back from the taxidermist? I expect a call from my guy almost anyday now. He's got a quick turnaround suprisingly.
