Well we are right around 795 with the two bucks that have yet to be entered. I thought the score was in the 700 hundreds. It looks like we still have some work to do. Hopefully we can get all 10 teamates on the board for the first time.
Thanks,
Thanks,

Well, while the rest of you guys are having fun sitting in your treestands, all of our deerseasons are now closed for this week and all of next week. Then, on Monday, 11-27, the Orange Army Marches in. It will sound like the Pearl Harbor Invasion, as 1,000,000 yayhoosbringcomplete devastationto fawns, does, buttonbucks, illegal bucks, legal bucks, and anything else that looks like it might need shot at. I'll be in the big woods, so I should find an isolated pocket to hide somewhere. Even despite the aggravation, I'll be happier than a pig in new mud to be back in the woods.
I haven't had three full days in a row to hunt since... well... this time last year.
I'll be trying my hand at bear hunting on Monday, but I'm planning on putting 5-10 miles on my boots and still getting skunked. It would be cool to get one, but it's a crapshoot - tons of hunters, and only a few bear. Chances are that if we have a little snow, I'll cut a track and dog one right into somebody else's lap before I have time to close the gap on him.
No WV rifle hunting this year - still broke - paying off the wedding. Deer in Preston County, West Virginia are smiling right now. They're probably having little deer parties down there laughing at me.

So Troy, where'd ya end up?
Like quick, our deer seasons are closed now, but come the gun season I will be venturing into his territory trying to bag a doe with mysuper blackhawk. If any of you guys want to put more fun into your gun seasons, I suggest try taking a handgun. It takes some practice to shoot it good, and it gives you that archery feel while still making a BANG when you shoot. I love my SBH but I think I may step up to one of those single shot contenders next season.

Quick,
I may take a day to go muzzleloader hunting with my brother over Thanksgiving, I still have an elk tag that I would like to fill and Muzzle is open in a couple units within driving distance. Good luck on your bear adventure!
Ryan, I ended up in my ground blind..hunted yellers area. I got home and the wind was blowing hard enough I figured the point stand would turn into a boat ride.
Ryan...I plan on muzzleloading with Rob my bro out there where you got on your bull.

Ryan - those T/C Encores are NICE - I've been wanting one for varmints - maybe in a .220 Swift or another .22-250with a long fluted cryo-treated bull barrel. If you get one in a small deer caliber with a 12" bull bbl - you can strap a scope onto that puppy and hammer some does. That would be fun instead of the traditional rifle, and get your effective range close to 100 yards, easy. So are you open-sighted on your blackhawk, red dot, scope? I've had two stainless Encore frames in my hands, but I can't bring myself to buy one.
Troy - can you guys use any type of muzzle loader, or is it flintlock only? We have both seasons here - one for doe only with the high-tech stuff, and any sex with the flintlock. I have one of each, and the flintgun is more fun to use, but it's such a miserable sucker to clean that I hate even taking it out. I got a doe with it once, and one was enough. Man is that thing ever filthy. You have to clean it in the bathtub, and I swear it rusts just looking at it. I feel like I'm cheating with the inline (Winchester X-150).
Man, I'm jealous of you guys. Y'all are out hunting whitetails and elk, while we're stuck at home with the option of shooting squirrels and rabbits. This stinks. Am I complaining out loudagain? [>:]

we can use muskets and muzzleloading rifles ...some units have special musket only hunts.
Open sites only
black powder pyrodex or synthetic
.428 caliber or bigger
flint, percussion cap or musket cap
209 PRIMERS ILLEGAL

I've got a 2x weaver topping my gun. Heck here's a pic. I love the instant ability of digital photography.

Troy good luck to you and your bro. Settle some scores out there
Quick,
I think if I get one of those encores I'm probably going to go for a 308 or 30-06. Something I could use to hunt bigger game than deer if I so chose down the road.

Ryan,
Its really a shame we live so far apart ... you guys could hunt Nov here with a muzzle loader with your elk tags and again in Dec... with archery gear...
I will do what I can. Rob and I plan to hike in there at daylight next Sat morning, it will be a long pack out with a bull elk if we find one feeding in there. Ifigured the lions den and those backclear cuts couldmight have some elk feeding in there...Also there might be snow and if my memory serves me correct that road had restrictions on it for everything except snowmobiles. We may need one to help out with the pack. Rob has one he's bring up.
Thanks Ryan..I'll try to even the score, I hope I see the bull J got close too...
