Hey guys it has been awhile. I hope everyone is doing well. I think it is cool that we out scored the gun hunters. I think that we should get double the prizes for winning both contests LOL.

I hope that we will all still be able to compete next year and try and defend our title.

I've never been one to miss out on a good time, so you can go ahead and sign me up again. Likelast year, I'll only be able to hunt Saturdays, so I can't really guarantee that I score on a brute, but I'm pretty sure that I can come up with something. If I have to hunt every morning before work for 30 minutes a day, I will.

Man, I feel like I spend my entire life just waiting, planningfor the next October. My Alpha Burly's are pretty beat. After turkey season, they will officially be worn out, so I have to pick up a new pair for next fall. I'll need the usual: scents/muzzy blades.

So what do you guys do over the off-season? I usually get pretty wound up for turkey season, but it's different now. Over the past couple seasons, I've taken some really nice birds, but I don't get as excited as I used to. It's like I expect to kill a 70-class bird every season, and anything less is a failure. Now, I'd rather take someone else out and when they get a bird, I usually get more excited than they do, even if it's a Jake.

After turkey season ends, we do some groundhog hunting. Some friends and I have bought custom varmint rifles, and we spend a few Saturdays in the fields trying to thin out the groundhogs for some local farmers. I also take a few Saturdays in August, and wander through the mountains hunting Ginseng. I know, that's pretty hillbilly, but I did it as a kid for money, so I do it now as a hobby.I'll probably keep it up until I get bit and maimedby a snake.

I get out fishing and campinga few times, too. My summertime fishing trips usually wind up being summertime swimming trips, because I never catch anything, and I don't have the patience required to fish effectively. Besides, it's usually hot, and the river is right there.

Outside of that, the offseason consists of work, hanging out with gf/friends, going to a club here and there, playing/watching any sport imaginable (golf, paintball, football, softball, deck hockey). This June my fiancee and I will be vacationing (and getting married *it pains me to admit it*) in the Dominican Republic, so I have that little trip to look forward to.

So what will you guys be up to over the coming months?

I'm in as well. I spend my off season mushroom hunting, turkey hunting, and dove hunting. I fish some, never golf ( I suck lol) and play softball/coach baseball. That and I have a million things to do around the house.

I will most certainly be a part of this again next year. You guys have been great.

As far as the off season goes....I fish....a lot. Mostly for smallmouths, some trout, but they are losing out to my smallmouth passion. I'll turkey hunt in the spring, I'm only 3 years into seriously chasing the gobblers, but I have good success. I'll also take in a NASCAR race or 2. Those things are a blast.

You can count me in as well. I had way to much fun this year that to even think about not being in it next year would just kill me.

As for the rest of the year I alwys manage to stay really busy but find time to do what I like doing. I am really excited about turkey season this year but I have a bad feeling that I am going to fail misribly. I don't have a good place to hunt and I don't know anything about calling and I just don't have the experince yet. But I will be out thier giving it my best.

I know I read some where that HNI was going to put something together for the winning team or am I just imaging that? I think that the winning team from last year got a $100 gift certificate but I could be wrong. So we get $200 for winning both bow and gun right LOL.

You can count me in too! I had a blast this year getting to know you guys a little better.( I kind of like the small group of guys). Even tho I didnt post as much as you all did, I was lurking every day.
As far as the off season goes, My son comes in June sometime, and is here for 2 months, he is 13, and growiing up way too fast, ( he lives in North Dakota with his Mom and Step Dad). I have a step son that lives with my wife and I, and we will take a few camping trips again this year. But the big thing that I will be doing this off season, is getting back in the drivers seat at our local dirt tracks. I am getting back into racing again after being out of it for a few years. I cant wait!!! Season starts the first part of April and runs thru October. That about does it for my off season. It has been a great year guys! So when is the contest officially over anyways?

I am in for next year! Would not have it any other way!! you guys are great!!!!

Off season I am looking forward to my first turkey season. I will be going out with my friend down the street and hopefully a good weekend with my dad.
I am currently shooting a indoor Feta leage, and am looking foward to getting out with the kids to shoot some 3-D. In the fall, a little Pheasent hunting will be done, and am looking into maybe some duck and goose hunting this year. I will have to intorduce the water foul season in quietly. I am sure the wife will be on my A$$. She has learned to accept bow hunting for3 months out of the year and is real good about it. I dont want to push it!!

Bowling is taking up some evenings too latly, theres nothing wrong with a hobbie you can drink a few beers while doing it.

Great journals Todd! how about one on the best way and places to find thoes sheds?
