Tell him stick with his 308 and buy some 150 gr hornady sst lightmags,I use the this year and was very impressed. 3000 fps thats faster then a 30-06 and is very devisting on moose also

I had a browning a-bolt composite stalker in 308 win really liked the gun but not fussy on the drop plate so i traded for a tikka t3 lite stanless 308 win,it had a stright clip also a really nice gun...

I have two rifles tikka t3 308 win and browning blr pistol grip 308 win ,no need for anything bigger i have killed deer,bears and moose with ease i perfur 150 gr bullets nosler accubonds work well...

last week went moose hunting two cow moose where killed that day(around 600 pounds they looked like twins) first moose was shot with 7mm wsm 150 gr powerpoints the second was shot with 308 win 150 gr...

varget or reloader 15 are great for the 308 win,on the nosler website it states 48.5 gr (max load)of varget will give u 3001 fps with 150gr bullet.thats prob 24 inch bbl so u should get around...

308 is a true DO IT ALL CALIBER! I own two guns a 260 remington moutian rifle lss and a browning a-bolt composite stalker in 308. this year that 308 dropped a nice cow moose from about 125 yard dead...
