Default New Sako 75 .260 rem, which scope?

I recentlybought a new Sako 75 in .260 rem. I picked it up for $850 at Cabela's on closeout due to the 85's coming along. I alreadyhave a L691 Classic custom7mm rem and know how addicting these Finnishrifles are. Thegunwill be alightweight more compactrifle opposed to theL691.My 7mm has a heavy 24.5 inchbarrel, HS Precision stock, Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40. As you can imagine you definetly notice you're not carrying a sporter weight rifle. The .260 is purely for all arounddeer hunting out to200 yards, mostly woods terrain.I don't wish to spend a pocket load ona scope for this rifle. I'mthinking along the lines of a Nikon Prostaff in 2-7x33. Maybe I should wait and get aLeupold VXIII 2.5-8x36?Do you guys think a Prostaff in plain 3-9x40 would be best? All input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have that exact rifle and had considered getting the 3-9 x 40 Zeiss Conquest for it but I have a 3-10 x 40 Weaver Grand Slam sitting around doing nothing so I"™m going to use it on this rifle. Heck I"™ve only had this rifle since last spring and still haven"™t shot it.

Your choice of magnification sound good to me. I"™m not familiar with the Nikon Prostaff but I do have a Nikon Monarch and I"™m very impressed with it"™s optics. What type of rings do you have in mind on using?...

I'll probably use the low optilock rings and bases that came with the rifle.

You lucky man. I never got any with my rifle...

You may find the low rings a little high with the 40mm obj. lens but should work well...

I have a Sako 75 in the .270 WSM toped with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14-44mm! I would put a 3-9 Conquest on it if it were mine also...

I too just bought a Sako 75 mine in 270 win. I went with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 I have always had Leupolds but for some reason I wanted something different. I am glad I did I think I like the Zeiss better than the Leupold vx-3's that I already have I hope this helps chad

SHort tube scope and a 50mm objective would look good on those optilock rings. Cabelas had a closeout on 75's that has to be a first. 3-9x40 Conquest, 3-9x50 Conquest, 3-5-10x44 Conquest,Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42

Man, you've got a great rifle... why be tight on the scope? I'd check out the Samplelist at S.W.F.A. You can pick up a 3-9 X42 Kahles American Hunter with TDS reticle foe 499.95. That's a very good scope my friend. If that doesn't float your boat, search the entire Samplelist. There are some good deals there. Good luck.
