I have a real bargain! 600 acres owned by a friends father, and no one in the family hunts. But they love venison, im very happy to put some steaks/roasts into theyre freezer's!

We bought a 350 acre farm in WV in 1968 for $4500. We just bought an adjacent 160 acres for $40,000.

Not a bad price for land, but you can sure see the increase!!!

I bought my hunting land in 1994 for 800 per acre and people told me I was nuts. Last week a realtor called and told me I could get 3500 per acre if I wanted to sell.

My bud told me the land next to his place was for sale in 1979 40 acres for two grand and the seller was upset cause he could'nt get a buyer. That same 40 just sold last month for 65.000 thousand.....marty

It is getting pretty hard to find hunting land in Michigan for under $2000 an acre.

Just got the annual tax bill for my 145 acre property. It was $8.52 (canadian). I don't think I'll bother with the installment plan

borealboy; do you have a road to this property or is it zoned wetlands so you get a full tax rebate?

My property is on the trans canada hwy (i.e it gets a little noisy on my tree stand). The deer and moose dont seem to care however. I have a large river at the back end and 2 beaver ponds. Otherwise high hilly country with a few remaining stands of spruce and aspen plus lots of two year old browse in the cut over area. Its got a decent short driveway with a gate although it could use a load of gravel this spring.

borealboy; based on what you've said you might be able to save $3 if you apply for the wetlands tax rebate. It cut my taxes by about a third and I know people who save 90+ % because their properties quite wet.
