Default Turkeys eating up the food plot?

Planted Imperial Whitetail Clover mix about 5 weeks ago. Deer haven' t hit it hard. Turkeys found it. Scratches all over. Rain couple of days ago. No fresh deer tracks around the plot but tons of turkey tracks and the plot has been pretty well hit. Ever happen to you guys?

That' s a good question. I didn' t notice any turkey tracks in the lower field plot when I was down at the farm last, but there were quite a few deer tracks.

We always have a problem with the dang turkeys. I' ve tried aluminum pans on metal post and white plastic bags, but they didn' t seem to work. I just plant extra seeds.

If you want to give the plot a chance to recover, try what I am using.
Put some stout posts, (even the 3 ft. metal ones used for electric fence of metal fence posts.) Using very stout string or wrapping tape place one strand around the plot. Then tie White plastic shopping bags, colored don' t work too good, like Walmart sacks, abnout every 6 feet to the string. Keep the bags about 2-3 ft. from the ground. I kept both deer and turkeys out of my Pea plot for 2 weeks cmopletely, But I am seeing a few deer tracks, but still no turkeys. Give it a try.

Its more likely the turkeys are eating the bugs on the new plot attracted to the " new greenery" - at least until a few frosts knock the bugs out - then its all about mast for turkeys until winter.

No, they catch the little plants and pull them up and eat the seed kernel on the bottom as well as the little plant.

Turkeys are a lot like people. They may like a meat course, but they also like a salad on the side. One plot they demolished the clover, guess there wasn' t enough bugs to sate them.
