Default When to plant fall plots

I'm planning on planting a mixture of oats and turnips for fall in an area that's currently grass. When should it be planted . . . and would it be a good idea to include winter wheat and/or clover in the mix?

winter wheat is a good idea... End of august for me.. But since you live in connecticut I have no idea when to plant up there..
