Default Food plots...what to plant??

Hello, This spring I will be planting a 1 acre food plot in Southeastern Minnesota. We are taking the land out of production it used to be corn/soybeans and planting mostly trees, and this 1 acre food plot. My question is what is best to plant for the area that would attract deer and also help them grow? If you have any links to sites with food plot information that would also be helpful.

Thank you for your help!

What I would recomend is getting some soil tests done first. Then when the results come in, 7-14 days later, you will want to take that information to your local co-op and find out what seed is best for your soil type(s) and find out what grows best in your region and climate. Another thing you can do as well, if you can afford it or find some in your area, is plant some sugar beets. Deer love them and hold alot of nutritional value and promote antler growth. After planting make sure you cultipact the ground as well. this will help keep birds from getting too many seeds. Good luck.
