mineral sight
#1
i just put out a mineral site consisting of trace minerals and a crushed up salt block. i live on 30 acers of crp land that has a small creek running throught it. (2-4 inches deep) the site is a few feet from where the deer cross the creek. i should also mention that the crp and woods are seperated by the creek. my question is, is ther anything else that i can to as far as minerals go to improve the developement of antlers and fawn developement? (i already plan on planting a food plot later in the spring.)

The rule of thumb is one mineral deposit per 40acres, so one site should have you covered. This is very dependent on deer density and movement patterns on the property, if some deer never go near the area containing the mineral then they won't get it. Deer require different trace mineralsthan livestock and vice versa so I would suggest adding a mineral designed for deer if not contained in your site. With minerals I just want them to use it so I usually put sites in thick cover near bedding areas. Good luck.
