Default Germination period for Rye & Ladino Clover?

I planted rye and ladino clover in Northeastern PA on Saturday (9/14). The soil was prepared quite well and we had a good rain on Sunday. My plots were fertilized and limed as necessary. Temperatures have been moderately normal. I was just wondering how long it will take for these seeds to germinate and come up?

I'm not up on the germination stuff but the rye will be popping out of the ground in a couple of weeks and grow fast. The tiny little clover seed takes quite a bit longer. When you can't wait to see the fruits of your labor it really comes up slow. hehehehhehe Sounds as though you have done an excellent job. terry

with moist soil rye will pop in 7-10 days. Clover about 10-14 days, though you will not recognize it as clover until it gets its fourth leaf at about 3 weeks. Growth in the fall is dependent on the temperature. Even with days in the 70s - if you have 50s at night, growth for the clover will be veeeeery slow. The rye will dominate the first fall as it grows very well with average temps in the low 60s. If you get alot of sunlight, and/or warm nights, the clover can surprise you though.

Thanks FH - Does the clover have a two leaf appearence when it first sprouts? IF so its what is coming up now as I was there today 9/18 and happy to see the greenery.

Yes, the clover will be 2 leaves after germination - they are lobes and do not resemble clover. The 3rd leaf looks kind of like a clover leaf, the 4th, looks like clover. Do not expect alot of growth from it this fall, it'll kind of build up in the lower 2" of the plot. Sure some will acutually pop up, it depends on how warm the fall is. Next June you should see it really come on strong.
