dont care about points in my Deerlease, i want MEAT. If i go on a PAY hunt i go for the rack BIG 8 or 10+. As a rule i dont shoot less than a 6 most of the time. dont know why i bother tho, the guys on my lease hang deer up smaller than my german shepard and think they've done something. Pisses me off. NEways yea big8 or 10+ for pay.

the smallest and only deer i've killed was a one sided 3 point(it would've been four but a point had broken off). but i'm going to try and be more liberal on bucks in kentucky, but they're usually pretty big there. but any does are fine.

If i saw a little four pointer out here, despite never taking a buck yet, i think i would pass it up and wait. I want my first buck with bow to be a nice one. Actually wouldn't we all? lol

It has gotten out of hand on this topic! The 'trophy' hunters who attempt to force evreyone to follow their egotistical concept of what hunting is all about will be the downfalll of hunting. QDM started out with some good ideas, but like everything else, some people have to go to extremes. If a few supplemental plots are helpful to the herds, why not turn 75% of the property into a plot and build yourself a mini condo and name ' your' deer and add those magical antler growth potions as well as ,ad nauseum, ad nauseum! 10 years ago hunting magazines had articles on scrapes, interpreting sign, the rut, etc. Now they might as well be a farming manual. Make the deer come to you, why actually go out and hunt? We need to change the name or change our approach. I talk to a lot of non-hunters. They will be the ones that cast the deciding ballots for the future of hunting. I have yet had one object to hunting as it has been defined from the get go, but without exception they are opposed to the trophy mentality. I hunt for the challenge of breaking down a piece of property and learning and patterning the deer--not luring them into an ambush by some astronomical food plot and 'deer factory'--and I hope for a mature animal and exercise a common sense approach to 'management'. But the way things are now has gotten out of hand!
