Diamond back rattle snake (PIC)
If this shows up all the credit goes to deerdust for assisting me in being able to share this with all of you. deerdust originally posted this under the topic scared of the dark but it showed up on page three of the topic so I decided to repost under a new topic.
Me and some friends went to the lease over Labor day weekend to do a little work and try and shoot a dove or two. We were sitting around camp Sunday evening relaxing after working all day on the property we hunt. I had just shot a dove and looked around for the empty shell casing when I saw this rascal. I shot the snake about 30 minutes before this picture was taken and about 3 hours later we decided to skin it and throw it on the grill and see what rattle snake taste like. When we went to skin it it was still moving around after we skinned, gutted and beheaded the thing my 15 year old son picked it up and laid it on a table to be seasoned and the thing actually recoiled and the end where the head once was rose up of the table like it was going to strike I got a video of it just in time, pretty freaky if you ask me. Anyways we threw him on the grill and had rattle snake appetizer. He measure 4 feet 2 inches long, not real big but enough to get my blood pumping when i first saw him.

I believe that is the only good snake, a dead one. I know some snakes help out around the barns keeping the rats in line but I can not stand them. I fish alot in an area that has alot of cotton mouths and they are some mean suckers. I carry a .410 hand gun that I shoot double barrel bird shot at them. It is a neat gun, colt .45 or .410 double barrel hand gun. About 5 inch barrels.
I beat you all jump out of the way even with the head cut off of that dude. I would have liked to see that.

All right OG, looks like we are making progress. Now we need to get you over to http://www.hunting-pictures.com to create an account, it is free. You are allowed 4 pages there, but you don't have to use them. All you need to do to use it as a host site is upload your pics to their site. However, there was one problem with your pic. When it was saved on your computer it was saved as a .JPG file and needs to be .jpg (not capitalized) or it will not be recognized as a graphics file. But there is a way around that too....lol....another time.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
The best of luck in all your hunting endeavors!!!

I've skinned many of them and it never ceases to amaze me how long they move around even though I know they're dead. I think the nervous system of a pit viper is very intensely charged and it takes alot to discharge. Kind of like a capacitor in a TV...
I carry my super blackhawk 44mag with the first two snakeshot and the rest HPs. Buddy of mine has the perfect snake gun--2 inch bbl 45 colt--nasty spread comes out of that muzzle.
Nice one, make a nice belt or rifle sling.
