Two weekends ago there was a pitbull running around and it managed to take down a doe fawn in the field down the road from my house . I wasn't home at the time but my dad said that the dog had a hold of the deers throat and was shaking it like crazy and the deer was bleating like crazy the whole time. My uncle called the game warden and was told to go and finish off the deer but don't shoot the dog. He killed the deer and chased the dog away. That mutt is pretty lucky that I wasn't home because I would have had no problem going down and slamming his mangy butt with a couple of 12-gauge brenekee slugs. I know one thing...if he shows up here again and he'll never leave
Man, thats nature. I guess you don't watch the lion taking down gazelles or a male bruin killing off cubs to get a sow to go into heat.

What in the hell are you callin me a weirdo for? mine was a last resort i
Hey, maybe I did take you wrong. And if so, I appoligize. I just got this exfriend, who would shoot dogs on sight for the hey of it. Poison them, lame them. Cats and song birds too. His dad is a big time cop so not much I could do. Pretty sick guy. You can tell it was a sign of other issues. Had all kinds of excuses. Barked and kept me up, I smelled cat piss. Or shooting cardnals isn't wrong, there everywhere. Ran deer, bla bla bla. He just got off on it. He's also truely clinicly depressed and highest axiety of anyone I have seen. Had a glimmer in his eye when braggin what he done. I had it with him.

Out in the huntin fields and woods, if I see a dog I haven't seen before - it get's 1 free walk IF it isn't chasing deer or other game.

Next time there's no second chance.

Folks who have dogs around the hunting grounds know that guys (and gals) are out hunting.

They know there's folks who pay tall cash for leases.

They know that any dogs can ruin well and long planned hunts.

And they know it's their responsibilities, no one else's to keep those dogs under their control and on their property.

Too many stupid excuses. Ifs. Buts. Always some excuse.

Keep them dogs up or put 'em down.

that is a grey area, because 1. what if it is a kids pet 2. it would disrupt your hunt. I am currently facing that exact problem, and I haven't shot it yet, but if it continues I might consider it.

the lion is killing the gazelle for food, what was the pit bill going to mate with the, the doe fawns mother. sorry bc but that logic is a little flawed, i'll stick with my original post

i can over-look the incedental dog coming across my property, where the problem starts is with problem dogs, if they turned out there dogs every sat. morning me and somebody would be having a good talk. if there pets talk to the owners, i do the best i can to keep mine up but they do perform jail breaks every now and then and if there causing a problem i'd like to know first. if the dogs are left to run wild which is not uncommon around here i say eliminate the problem, i would leave the dog shootin as a last resort, but some people have no regard for there "pets" well being..and don't care what i'll effects it has on your property, ie livestock, they can chase a calf once but if its an everyday ocourance spot has to go.. sorry
if it had been one of our calfs or goats i'd be paying someone a visit, i don't let my dogs chase livestock so i dang sure aint gonna let the neighbors dogs

I would probably place my deer target out with a good scent trail of deer urine leading to it, where I would have several leg hold traps waiting for the unsuspecting dog or dogs. When I caught a dog I would go check him for tags etc. If he had them, I would contact the Dog Warden and the Game Warden and have his owner arrested. If he didn't have tags, I would take him to the pound.

If they're chasing game I shoot them. We have dogs wandering around here (Idaho) all the time, shooting them wouldn't be neighborly.

I understand its a felony to shoot a dog in Alabama even if it is running deer.

Yea, just cause a black bear might be chasing down deer would give anyone a right to just blast it. Or any animal for that matter. There are avenues to take to deal with an issue before taking the law in your own hands. I mean if a hunter (if you call em that) was that dirty to let dogs out on purpose to run deer to his property, he couldn't be that right in the head. I don't even know a hunter so low. You never know, one of the crazy nutball hunters could get distraught over his dog and hunt you down. Or your family. Or destroy your house or your car. You got to ask yourself, is it worth it?
