I would say check the for sale rags. You can find some good deals. Some of them are way over priced, but some are great deals. There's a scoped 30-30 marlin in ours this week for 200.
By the way, I just picked up a Weatherby Vanguard .270 win for 225 at walmart. The clerk told me they sold three Savage 7mm mag's for 175 a piece a few weeks before that. Don't know what the deal is but I understand they have been discounting many rifles to move the older stock......which makes no sense to a gun owner, but I suppose makes sense to a business.

I have owned a H&R single shot 243 for 6 years now. Paid 220. straight out of the box. They have interchangeable barrels. My son has the same gun in a 25-06 model and we also own a 30-06 in the same gun. They are very well made and I wouldnt trade it for any other gun.
