deer liver and deer heart (part 2)
There’s a hunt camp I know where the person in charge is a woman. She doesn't hunt herself but likes the outdoors. Last year she got so upset by the lack of effort being put out by men in the camp that she decided to take matters into her own hands.
I wrote a song about the incident.
The Liver and the Heart (Deer Track Soup)
I thought you men came to my camp to hunt, don’t tell me there’s no deer
Until I see something hanging, there’ll be no more beer
Now maybe you need more encouragement, or even bribery
the first one to bag a buck, might even have a chance with me
Now there’ll be no more sleeping in, until half past three
No more free rides, in my lap of luxury
I’ve heard enough excuses, to last me through the year
Now get off your lazy arses, and bring me back a deer
I think you men need a woman, to show you how it’s done
Get me a Mackinaw jacket, a knife and a gun
Grease up that fryin’ pan boys, get that fire to start
Because I’ll be back in an hour, with deer liver and deer heart
A woman’s work is never done!

I kind of enjoyed the story and liked the lyrics and a little promo along with it for his cd is fine with me. I find links included with a post usually make for a worthwhile side trip. gg.
