RE: tips for a first-timer?
I always hunt over bait . Tips for a first timer I would have to say are always be ready and dont second guess yourself. As soon as you see a deer you will make the determination wether your taking it or not. Stick with it. Not doing so you may end up regreting it. Remember stay down on the shot watch the deers reaction and give him ample time to bleed out.Faliure to do so may result in tracking him to Mississippi. Hope I could help.
Hunting isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life.

RE: tips for a first-timer?
Well, I survived my weekend, but was skunked. Saw two does the night before opening day, and never saw anything bigger than a roadrunner the rest of the weekend.
Disappointing, to say the least--not just that I didn't shoot a deer, but that I didn't even *see* any.
I still had a good time, and learned a lot. One of the other guys shot a spike buck, the only deer any of four hunters saw all weekend.
I'd like to go again soon, but rounding up the money will take some doing.
