Default Adirondacks

Have any of you guys ever hunted in the Adirindacks of NY. I hunt in the catskills, south of the adirondacks, and I've hunted in Maine, both somewhat difficult areas to hunt deer, and I've had success. This year though, I am thinking about hunting the 'dacks and I just wanted to hear some other people's experiences about it. Thank you.

Never hunted up there, but I've spent some time up there with family....near third and fourth lake. Actually, I ran into a bear up there one time while doing some hiking. It was pretty crazy. I didn't really run into it, but I came upon it. It was about 100 yards away from me. I had to take an alternate route to the end of the trail.

I live at the northern end of the Adirondacks near Plattsburgh, NY. It's alright but I'd rather go downstate anyday...but...I don't have a place down there to hunt this year. I am trying to get in at thhis farm in Philmont which is just across the river from you I believe.

Comanche, a bunch of people have told me to hunt there. Is there a lot of hunting pressure? Also how hard is it to see a deer? I know that there are very few deer there, but what are the odds of just seeing some deer? Have you had success there? I plan on camping up there this fall and hunting there. I just want to be prepared and know what I'm in for.

I have hunted there all my life, around the cranberry lake area. there is plenty of state land to hunt right off of route 3. if you want to rough it, you can boat it down to the end of cranberry lake and hunt there, or there is an outfitter in town that will run you and your gear down the end of the lake and check on you while you are there. can't tell you too much more of you might be sitting in my lap. i am heading up there during muzzleloading season this year for a week.
