I KNOW IT IS NOT THE FANCIEST AND MOST EXPENSIVE BULLET
( actually probably the cheapest $9.99 walmart), BUT I USE REMINGTON 150 gr CORELOKTs. HAVE USED THEM FOR 7 YEARS NOW HAVE EXCELLENT RESULTS. BUT ALSO KEEP IN MIND THAT I HUNT IN MISSISSIPPI AND OUR AVERAGE KILL DISTANCE IS BETWEEN 50 AND 100 YARDS. LOTS OF THICKETS!!! LOL WITH YOUR DECISION

Pretty much any 150-165grn .30-06 bullet will kill deer very well. FMJ's are illegal and don't open enough anyway (or at all) to be efficient killers, and Ballistic tips like the Noslers mauser mentioned and Winchester Ballistic Silvertips, both of which I've used in the past are typically too explosive for deer at close ranges. Over 50-75yrds they're AWESOME, I took a doe at 383yrds with one shot with a ballistic Silvertip four years ago, outstanding performance at that range...however, I also got a 60yrd shot that same year, hit the doe behind the shoulder standing broadside, knocked her over, she rolled, got up, and ran off, four people in my party looked for over an hour and never found a blood trail, they pop like balloons if they're going to fast upon impact, let them reach out a bit and they're great though...not the ultimate round though.
Winchester Supreme Power Point Plus' are pretty cheap, like $20 a box, as far as premium ammo goes, and they're very accurate, not to mention how awesome they do on killing...great expansion, but good weight retention, HARD hitting, but not explosive. Probably my favorite hunting round at this point.
