Hunting in mid to late October?
I will be hunting my first muzzleloader season here in Oklahoma this October. The season runs the last week of October. What are the deer like than? What scents and tactics should I use? How should I hunt? From a field or rattling, etc. Thanks for any help.

How does the season relate to the rut in that area?
If its pre-rut and bucks are scraping a lot, hunt rublines and scrapes. If they aren't scraping yet, hunt the feed. If they have stopped scraping, they are after does.

Here in Northeast Oklahoma over the last few years the week of muzzleloader season has been magical. I am really looking forward to this years muzzleloader season. It just seems like the rut has been in full swing around the last of October first of November the last few years (in my opinion). Hunt the scrapes and rub lines. I've had good luck hunting along thick areas and using the rattling horns and grunt call. If this year is like the last few, the rut should be on during the week of blackpowder so pull out all the tricks and good luck.
