In the early season I use plain doe pee and buck scent. Then in pre-rut I switch the doe pee to doe in heat pee. I've not found one brand to work better than another. Of couse I haven't tried them all. I do like the Myles Keller's Hot Doe Gel. It's from Scent Shield in a green and white squeeze tube.

I've been making mock scrapes and doctoring up existing scrapes for several years and the results have been great. Have made them as early as April and had deer activity in them within days but most of the use is going to be during the fall. I use the Buck Fever synthetic forehrad gland scent on the overhanging branch and aroung the vegetation and the mild pre-post rut urine in the scrape itself. Then during the rut I switch to the rut urine and some of the James Valley Wall Hanger gel while continueing to use the forehead gland scent on the overhanging branch. These are the only products I use as far as scent goes and I believe strongly in them. I don't think you .can go wrong using these scents as long as you follow the directions and be as scent free as you can possible be. Have fun making your scrapes and keep us posted on the results.

I also use the Buck Fever Synthetic scents and they work great! Be sure to follow the directions, I set my scrapes up in early October and made my own scrape line for about 200 yards with each scrape at 50 yard intervals, I found that they continued the line with real scrapes of thier own. I also made a fake rub line using the forehead gland and was able to pattern the bucks to come into the scrape line from the direction I wanted. I used a local deer farm's doe in heat when the rut started. I have tried a ton of different scents over the years, and nothing worked like this stuff.
