Red dot scopes for slug hunting..

RE: Red dot scopes for slug hunting..
I had one on my slug gun for years and finally decided this deer season to pull it off and put on a regular scope w/ see thru mounts. The red dot is nice when you are up close and personal, but with the new sabots & rifled barrells, I don't like using the red dot to take a poke. Just my opinion.

RE: Red dot scopes for slug hunting..
i put a tasco 42mm reddot scope on my mossberg 500 slug gun and i thought it would be a good idea but it turned out not to be it realy seems better suited for close range like 30 yards or so and after that it gets hard to aim and all it was real difficult to hit a paper plate from 50+ yards because there wasent really any magnification so i pulled it off and im planning on getting a regular old 3x9 scope with see through mounts but i believe the red dot scope would be great on a turkey gun or hand gun but now that ive tried it id say no on a slug gun just my .02 cents
