Holey Crap. I thought they were heavier than 27 pounds when they dropped out the hatch. I shot 5 times at a button(100lbs live weight) and only hit him 3 times. I fired the first shot aiming at the chest. Gut shot him veyr bad so I unloaded on him to put him down as fast as possible. he was moving. Went down after running 150-200 yards total. I found out a few days ago my scope was screwed up but have no idea when it happened. I spent a whole day at the range testing loads before season and had it down to 1 1/2 inch groups. I'm glad I didn't shoot at any others since I have no idea how long my rifle was unreliable.

Oh yeah, I also missed a spike the next weekend. Thirty yards broadside. I hit a weed right before the deer and my broadhead opened up. I got hair, but no meat. Oh well, maybe next season.

I missed a doe at forty yards with my bow. It was a hard shot because it was through brush and the wind was blowing pretty hard. I was bored and i decided to take the shot.

well dude, I haven't killed a deer with my bow yet and I wanted to break the ice. I am glad that I did not hit it and let it get away. I had an open channel through the brush and the wind is the only thing that made me miss. I'm sure you have missed before too unless you are perfect.

I have a few whitetails under my belt with a bow. I have missed, ofcourse, but you said the wind was blowing hard and it was through brush and at 40 yds. I feel that 40 yds is the max you should shoot under optimal conditions. Those were horrible conditions. You take the shots you feel you should but I think you should reconsider not only your equipments limtations but your own limitations too. I take it you are new to bow hunting so maybe you don't know but the percentage of getting a fatal hit on that shot is extremley low.
I find it unsetteling that you said "I took the shot, o well I was bored." Sounds like you really didn't care if you made a good hit or not you just want to see if you could hit the deer. That is not good.
