My son and me like to eat deer meat. But my wife and daughter won't even try a bite for nothing. My wife won't even cook it for me. I try to convince them deer are some of the cleanest animals there is about what they eat everything natural. And that it is very lean and good for you. But they don't have no problems eating a nasty chicken or hog meat. Those animals will eat dang near anything including their own kind. I guess it's the thoughts of seeing it hanging in the garage they can't deal with.

I have a girl (six years old) that just does not like red meat. Won't eat hamburgers or nothing. However, she LOVES my dear steaks! She even asks me to cook them. However, I made the mistake of letting her see one of my kills without first preparing her, and it took her months before she would eat deer again. She's over it now after we talked and she realizes that ALL animals must die before being consumed.
I basically explained to her the process of how commercial beef and chicken is raised and asked if she would rather eat that or an animal that lived a natural life and then never knew what hit it.
She's eatin' deer steaks again!

My wife only likes the processed stuff...summer sausage, sticks etc... The only way she'll eat the steak is if I for one make it and two, if I maranate it in wircherster(sp?) or terriyki(sp?) to take out some of the wild taste. In fact, we had some tonight. Yuuuuuummmmmmm

Both kids and the wife eat it. They love it when I cook it right. Not being the greatest cook, it turns out different every time. I will say though, a very trimmed roast cooking all day in the slow cooker won't last long on the dinner table.
I wish I could give some great advice on how to get them to try it, but I just don't know. I will say that my wife doesn't like looking at them too much hanging there dead, so maybe try to alter that part of the hunt.

My wife doesn't like it and I don't try to press the issue (26 years, I know better). I usually give away 5 to 8 deer a year, most of it to my daughter, son in law and 3 grandkids.

My mom and dad have raised all six of us kids and we only eat wild game (with the exception of some poultry and pork). I can't even look at beef without gagging.
Something that you should try is to make a bunch of burgers while your wife is out of the house(your daughter too) and then tell them that it is beef (first go to the store buy some hamburger and give it to the dog so you have the wrapper) they will likely say that those burgers were the best they had had in their lives.

When I first met my wife she would not eat venison, so one day I told her I would cook some steaks without telling her they were venison. Did this about three times before telling her. Now over 20 years later she still loves it.

Well the only one that doesn't eat it is my 17 year old daughter, it is all in her head, funny thing is she always comes out to check out my kills before I hang them!
