I only shoot does or very young bucks. This will improve the taste by about 80 percent. It does not have near as much of what people call wild taste. I have been eating deer meat all my life as has my wife as my family and hers were big into hunting. Having said that niether of us will eat a buck unless there is no way around it. The last Buck I shot was a big OLD buck many years ago. We had to throw most of it out. Same for fish. Keep the smaller ones, clean them as quick as you can and you will have good eating. I have seen many people who say they don't like fish. They are the ones that drag them around on a stringer all day dead and then wonder why they don't taste good. To me its the same thing with wild game the old bigger males are just not that good to eat. The last Moose I had was a 60inch plus bull. We through 80 percent of that away. Never Again. They say you can't eat the horns but I take that a step further and say you would be better off eating the horns.

We eat it every week, sometimes 2 or 3 times. My wife has some great recipies that even she claims to love!...LOL. And like others have said, my kids eat it because that is what they have been raised on. They do like it alot. My son says he's a carnivore

I think alot of folks have what I call the "Bambi Syndrome". Most non-hunters that refuse to try it have a mental block. My mother in law is just like that. I've tricked her several times telling her it was beef. She gobbled it down and loved it, but there's no doubt in my mind that if I told her it was venison she would have thrown up on the spot. If you do want them to try it, make sure it is prepared good. Last thing you want them to do is say they told you so.

Everyone in my family eats and likes wild game meats, fish, etc. Only my wife and 11 yr old daughter are left at home now, so with 3 deer and 2 hogs in the freezer, there is plenty of meat for the yr. The only thing that the kids didn't like was snapping turtle, but I am sure there are many better ways to prepare it than my wife did. We only tried it once. As I type, I am wolfing down a barbecue pork sandwich from 2 hogs I brought home last weekend. yummmmm Had the roast the last 2 nights. I hunt now for a living, so my family is used to seeing game hanging. Although they do get the same thrill I do when I show the deer running in the fields. I did have an experience when I was about 12 and my cousin was 10, we went on our first ocean fishing trip. We caught enough fish for the family gathering, but I also caught a sand shark. I was going to give it to one of the other fisherman, till someone told me how to clean it. My cousin was all excited about trying it till he watched me clean it...LOL Welllllll, I did disect it after I had cleaned it and that may have been what turned his stomach..[X(] It was delicious too...[:-]

we eat an average of 3 deer per year between my wife, son and myself. This year it will be 5, unless I score on the last day tomorrow. To us it's just "meat" I go to great pains to handle and process the deer myself, and most that try it like it.

My name is mud if I don't put deer meat on the table every hunting season. Entire family,(relatives included), loves it and looks forward to enjoying venison. I hunt with a friend who doesn't care about the meat, just antlers, so I end up with his also. My family can't get enough.

Wife didn't care for it until about 2 yrs ago when she began experimenting with various recipes. Now she's got it down and gets po'd if I come home empty handed. One of the rules for my continued hunting is a fully stocked freezer for which I am all to happy to oblige! Gary

I made the mistake of taking my buck home to have my wife take my pic. with it. That was a month ago and she still talks about how cute his face was and that she has a hard time eating any meat now.I tell her she would of not of survived 150 years ago.I guess I can not blame her, her dad never owned a gun in his life. He is a retired fireman I guess he has seen to much.
