I RUN A GUIDE SERVICE IN OHIO AND EARLY ON WHEN MONEY WAS TIGHT WE USED THE CARDBOARD ARCHERY TARGETS(OF DEER) WE WOULD SET 2 OF THEM UP AT THE SAME LOCATION IN A SORT OF L SHAPE. SO THAT THE DEER COULD SEE IT NO MATTER WHAT ANGLE THE DEER COMES FROM. WE HAD GOOD SUCCESS WITH THAT NOW WE HAVE THE GREEN WE BUY THE 3 DIMENSIONAL DECOYS. THEY USUALLY RANGE FROM (IN PRICE) FROM $80.00
T0 $150.00 IN PRICE. KEEP IN MIND THAT SCENT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR WEAR CLEAN LATEX GLOVES TO CARRY THE DECOY TO AND FROM THE FIELD. WE STORE OUR OUTSIDE IN A SHED DESIGNATED FOR DECOYS ONLY SO WE DONT GET ANY HUMAN TYPE SCENTS ON THEM. TRY A LITTLE DOE IN HEAT SCENT. OR MAYBE IN THE EARLY SEASON TRY A CURIOSITY SCENT LIKE APPLE. HOPE THIS HELPS

've got a Carry-Lite with a Mojo tail wagger on it. I used it nearly every weekend last year, but didn't have any luck with it. The rut's starting to kick up here, so I plan on going out tomorrow and finding a good place to put it next weekend.

Had a guy shoot it last year (public land, bow-hunting only). After season was over, I painted all the white areas orange.

Did he shoot it with a bow?????

yep... decoy was facing straight at him. He was aiming for the chest I guess (dummy). it ended up glancing off the decoy's shoulder. No harm to the decoy.

Then he ended up arguing with me on whether they were legal in Alabama or not.

I was like "look man, I don't have money to waste.I checked with 2 differant game wardens BEFORE I bought the thing." I have since checked with a third.

Bad thing is, he said he had been stalking and watching it for like 20 minutes

This is the first year using a decoy. I bought a Flambeau Redi-Doe. Very life like in all respects. Coloring is more a October brown then the Carry-lite decoy. Carry-lite is alittle more red/orange like early season deer. Anyway, I used it bowhunting 3 times and I must say it was unbelievable! The first time had does come right in as soon as they spotted it from 60 yards away. Then a monster camed right in later. It walked in and rammed the decoy. the next day I hunted it again, I had 9 deer walk within 5 yards of it ( 3 being bucks ) it didn't scare any. The last time I used it once again it pulled deer right to me! I had 6 shot opportunities on does that time. I really wish I would have tried it earlier. I think you can over use it to. This was all bowhunting, I would never use it gun hunting.

Good Luck!
