Thinking of buying one. Bass Pro has one that can be a doe or buck for $100.00. Just wondering whats the best way to use them and does anyone have them cheaper? Have you had any luck using them?
Thanks in advance

I have had one for about a year. I have only used it about 2 or 3 times. They must be kept scentless which can be a chore. the body on mine detaches from the head and rolls up to fit inside the head for storeage.
p.s. I paid 40 for mine. They go on sale after hunting season is well over. Do a search on the internet for sporting good stores and check sale prices. Shop around sometimes you can save 50% on items like these.

I've owned a Carry-Lite since '98, which if you are
familiar, can be used as a buck or doe. I only use
it a few times a year just because of the hassle
getting it to my stand location. However, my hunting
partner uses it all the time and has had great success.
Last year he took a 140" 9 point over it. When he
showed me the tree he had his stand in I couldn't
believe it - it was a very small tree that was all by
itself. His stand couldn't have been 12 ft. high with
no leaves or cover of any kind. When his buck came
in he said the buck had 100% of his attention on the
decoy and he no trouble getting to full draw and
smoking him at 20 yds. He'd have never shot that
buck without that decoy.
This year he used the decoy on a open grass field that
was surrounded by various bedding areas. He had some
real bruisers come in, ready to kick some butt[>:].
Unfortunately he never closed the deal, but the decoy
definitely did it's job.
On another note, one night he forgot to take the decoy
down and left it standing in the field. When he got to
that stand the next day the decoy was laying about
15 yards away with the head off[:-]. Since it had
rained the night before, the spot where the decoy
had been staked in the ground was torn up.... Four
separate 10-12" metal stakes are used to set up the
decoy......it would take a big bodied buck to have
the strength to pull that deke and the stakes out
of the ground...
....we always set the deke up as a buck, sometimes
using just one antler to make him inferior in the eyes
of another buck. Setting the decoy up as a doe
usually will draw the attention of other does...which
more times than not will spell trouble.

Anyone use a sillohouette (sp) style decoy? I'm thinking about getting one of them for next season. I like them because it would be easier to carry around and looks really life like.

I have a flambeau ready doe that I use on occasion. Afew years back I had it set up in a small draw and my father in law drove his truck out to do some work on his riflle stand and did not see the decoy from the ground. As he was pounding on the stand about 100 yards away from me a niace ten came out from the across the field and charged right up to the decoy this is when my father in law noticed my decoy. This deer with all that was going on was only interested in one thing picking a fight with the decoy alas at 15 yards broadside he jump the string. Pops said this was one of the most interesting things he has ever seen in the woods andcould not believe how fast that deer drop as the arow went right over his back.

What about those cardboard type decoys? Anyone use those? Seem like they would be easier to cary around just not as realistic. I guess if the deer comes up with one eye shut it would work.
