You said that you aimed at the base of the neck? If i'm picturing this right then the shot may have gone right over the vitals. Earlier you said you should have aimed for low chest instead of mid chest. I think base of neck is high chest and you should have aimed for mid chest. Anyways good luck, I hope you find him.

Well at least you got a shot off that was safe right?
ME this muzzleloader season in utah, I was 20 yards away when a giant 5x6 came out of the tree line. this being my first deer season where I was hunting I was shaking so bad that I never got the shot off! well good luck! logic is on your side that the buck is dead.

Hey rackassasin have you gone back out? It has been 3 days now, I sure hope it is plenty cold or you are going to wind up with nothing to eat but horns. Did you take a dog out?

I really, really hope you went out and looked more and found this buck. In probably your 3rd or 4th post you were already talking in past tense about the deer. Ok...a standing deer at 30 yards and you took this shot? Please tell me your 16 years old and don't know any better... I think this is a good example of shooting a low percentage shot and having possibly another deer dead and not to be found.

You have to keep looking for that deer and let us know what happened. And next time....take your gun.
