In 30-30 I use 150 gr. core-loc, I f I used it for bear I would go up to 170 gr core-loc,

if you can find spitzer bullets that open well at 30-30 velocites then you can use them, as long as you chamber 1 round and put 1 in the tube. only ONE.

The best bullet to shoot out of a .30-30 is the one that is already in the chamber!

Why do we worry about a bullet having enuff speed out of a .30-30 at 100 yards, but don't worry about the same bullet when shot out of a Super-Ultra-Double-Magnum at 500 yards? Probably about the same speed.

In my mind I see:

.30-30 @ 100 yards = .300 Win @ 200 yards = .30-06 @ 300 yards = .300 Win Mag @ 400 yards = .300 RUM (& other SUD magnums) @ 500 yards. If this is true then the same bullet can work in all at the given distances.
