Default florida deer

i need to know how much effect the feeding times and all that stuff has on florida deer....i almost got upset at this hunter arguing the fact that he knows florida deer and that feed during the night only and that they are out in the marsh all day and that the feeding times and the moon has no effect on our deer what so ever....only northern deer are.....i know that they like to head out there for safety reasons and all , but am i wrong for thinking that our deer are effected by these things...

All deer are influenced by weather, moon, food sources, hormonal changes, hunting pressure, ect....

Yes, deer will feed at night, heck, during rifle season here in PA, deer become mostly nocturnal (in their major feeding), but, they do move during the day. Deer have to move around during the day. Sometimes, they may just get up, walk a few feet and bed down, but, they may also walk around browsing then bed back down.

My best friend is doing a research paper for college about deer movement and what affects it. I may get some of the info that he has found and post it on here. It is very interesting to read some of the info that he has found about deer movement. He was trying to find out why deer sometimes move for no reason at all, like why deer will move at 1:30 in the afternoon and other " akward" times.

Most of the time, deer move simply because of an outside element, such as hunting pressure, weather changes, ect...... but, there are times that there are no reasons (known reasons).

I hunted deer in Florida for several years and whoever told you that is an idiot and doesn' t know anything about Florida deer. The deer in Florida are no different from deer in anyother state as far as their behavior goes with maybe the exception of the rut and what and where they feed. They have food much more scattered than the deer up north so they don' t really have set places that they feed. They are much more opportunistic feeders and nowhere near as picky. About they only plant I haven' t seen them eat is palm frawns(sp?). They tend to wander more than deer in the northern climes. Whoever told you that doesn' t know what they are talking about.

P.S. As I remember correctly you killed a deer in FLORIDA in the last week or so. How many deer has he killed in Fla.?

he' s harvested a bunch down here and up in virginia, that is why he is the expert, lol.....i ' m not arguing the fact that deer down here are different in a few ways, the rut is a big difference...i' ve only hunted a few years now, but i have learned more than most....i have the internet(ya' ll), i have the time spent in the woods, and i' m still learning, i just dont understand how i can make him realize that yes, even i can be right.....just as much as he is about them heading to the marsh, i know they do , that is why i hunt it, but not all of them......thanks ya' ll...keep them coming, i' m going to show him that i am not the only one that argues this point.....he thinks that people online dont know squat about hunting, that ya' ll just tell me what i want to hear and i' m sorry but i have learned way too much and continue to do so from ya' ll.....THANK YOU ALL !

I was down in Florida about 3 months ago. Driving down the road and saw three deer. Nothing looked different. They are smaller and kind of look like dogs.

in my opinion Fla. deer are no different than any other big game animal. they feed and move by the moon phases and the rise and set of the sum.
I have always saw deer and made sure I hunt the rise and set of the moon as well as the moon over and the moon under.
if your friend says the Fla. deer doesn' t, he is the one that doesn' t know what he is talking about.all deer will get up and feed with every change.it may not be but for a very few min. but they will do it.old mother nature is hard to fool , .

if he is making a study of deer movemont and feeding habits,he needs to stay in the woods more.
