how many broadheads you planning on using?

Well down here we get 4 bucks and unlimited does, the season comes in mid-September and runs through January 1st...

So it can add up...

HuntinKidPA I am shooting 70 lbs at 29 in draw. It should have been more than plenty to pass through. The shot was quartering away and it was behind the shoulder when I saw her run into the swamp with it. Hard to say if I hit poodle shoulder or not but I really never found any blood. Im sure they work but as for me I would rather have some confidence with what I use next yr.

I shoot muzzy 3-blade 100gr heads, they are one of the cheaper ones on the market (34.99 per 6 last time i bought) and as long as you find the head after the kill you can just change the blades out (15.99 for replacement blades for 6 heads). I shot a doe last season through both shoulders and into the dirt bank behind her, so i dont think penetration is a issue with them. I have taken several deer with them and did not have any problems with any of them, But i think you would be satisfied with about any fixed blade out there. Hope this helps. good luck with whatever you choose!!!

You will receive about as many different answers as you get posts on this question. I personally use the rage 2 blade. Pass through every time for me. Replacing the oranges does suck though.

Someone mentioned simplicity. Simplicity is in the eye of the beholder. It's true that a mechanical has to open on contact and a fixed doesn't, so the mechanical is more complex in that respect (and it's something that might go wrong). But mechanicals have less blade protruding during flight, reducing drag and shear and making them simpler to shoot. I shoot Rage 2's, and I like the fact that I can switch from a practice head to a hunting head without retuning my bow. It's simpler.

Muzzy and slick trick are great but if you want an expandable I really like the grim reapers it's just hard for me to find replacement blades here. Because if that I tried the rage 2 blade this year but haven't had the opportunity to harvest a deer with them yet.

Find a 3-blade broad head that has blades firmly locked in place (front and back) and preferably allows blade replacement. And they must shoot consistently on target. Sometimes you can find some pretty economical broad heads that will fit the bill.

I have tried a lot of different broadheads over my 25 years of archery hunting. I have been shooting 100 grain slick trick magnums for the last 5 years. I really like them and plan to stick with them. HD.

i imagine you hit the opposite shoulder. I was always afraid of hitting shoulder with them, i don't know if they could handle it or not. I guess you could say thats another reason i switched. all about what you have confidence in.
