Close encounter
I was sitting a bedding field the evening of the 2nd waiting for a doe to walk out on the path. THere was only like a half hour left of shooting hour, then suddenly a gunshot goes off like 50 yrds away across the creek. It sounded like it was facing away, so I wasn't worried, then there was a second, sounded more at an angle, but still no worry. There was a long pause, then a 3rd shot, I heard it ricocheting behind me in the brush about 15 feet off. Needless to say I hit the deck in case there was a fourth shot, but it didn't come. Then I came up on a hunter and his doe, he was hunting the same trail that I was, just on the other side of the creek, from another guys property. I let him have the deer anyway, why waste my tag on a deer I didn't shoot. It was a kinda stirring experience, made me sweat a little.

RE: Close encounter
About five years ago I was hunting here in Ohio during the week of gun season. In Ohio we can only use shotguns to hunt with. Now any of you that have hunted with a shotgun you know how loud the blast is when it is fired. I was standing next to this brush and it was a real quiet day. Snow was falling ever so slowly and you could hear a pin drop. Well, it turns out another hunter was on the other side of that brush about ten feet from me.I did not know that he was there. A doe slowly walked out in front of him.He shot the oppisite way from me but when he fired that shotgun I nearly jumped out of my boots! We ended up meeting talking and laughing. Mostly laughing. I helped him field dress his doe. To this day once in awhile we get together and hunt. We still laugh about that day sometimes.
