This was my first hunting season and i didn' t get a deer or a moose or a bear for that fact I am hoping it will be differnt this year . We don' t have quite the population of deer up here in Ontario as you guys do down there in some of the states!

I had a pretty rough year this year. I saw does, but did not have a shot on a single buck. What was frustrating was that as I was leaving the woods at dark. I would hear bucks grunting, and I got one stirred up at me by grunting and stomping back. The thing was snorting and stomping no more than ten or twelve feet from me, but it was just inside the woodline. Very frustrating. I know that it was the dominate buck in the area, but he was nocturnal almost from opening day. Oh well maybe I can get him this year.

I got a 6 point whitetail deer last year but my Dad didn' t get any but he planted bio logic so I think that' s going to make the deer come out when it' s hunting time again. You just have to have dedication and persistence if you want to get a deer.

Oh yeah. I remeber one year when I was about 19. I bought a new rifle in the off season and practiced a ton. I was very confident going into the deer hunt. I scouted the previous summer and felt like I had a little honey spot.
Opening day I found the big boy I had been following. I shot 3 times and after the first 2 he just stood there and looked at me. After the 3rd he bolted and to this day I have no idea where I hit. I went over to the spot where he was standing and there was no blood. I tried for the rest of the day to find sign of the wounded deer but found nothing.
Next day I saw no bucks. Day three no bucks. Day four saw a smaller buck and I shot twice and missed. Day five, last day of the hunt I saw a nice sized deer and hesitated even taking a shot but I did. Missed twice.
I tagged no deer that year. After the hunt I was so annoyed that I decided to go out and practice with my new rifle. Well to make a long story short somewhere something had knocked that scope so far off it was barely on the paper at 75 yds. It made a nice little group on the edge of that paper though. At any rate needless to say I always shoot my rifle when I arrive at my hunting grounds.

I guess I didn' t have bad luck. I' m in the USMC and am currently in Japan. I' ve been over here for almost 2 yrs and it' s driving me crazy not being able to be in the woods. My parents are about to kill me b/c I' ve been ordering all of this neat gear off the net and having it shipped to their house. I guess when I get back I' ll be best geared hunter in the U.S.
