RE: bad luck
Oh yeah. I remeber one year when I was about 19. I bought a new rifle in the off season and practiced a ton. I was very confident going into the deer hunt. I scouted the previous summer and felt like I had a little honey spot.
Opening day I found the big boy I had been following. I shot 3 times and after the first 2 he just stood there and looked at me. After the 3rd he bolted and to this day I have no idea where I hit. I went over to the spot where he was standing and there was no blood. I tried for the rest of the day to find sign of the wounded deer but found nothing.
Next day I saw no bucks. Day three no bucks. Day four saw a smaller buck and I shot twice and missed. Day five, last day of the hunt I saw a nice sized deer and hesitated even taking a shot but I did. Missed twice.
I tagged no deer that year. After the hunt I was so annoyed that I decided to go out and practice with my new rifle. Well to make a long story short somewhere something had knocked that scope so far off it was barely on the paper at 75 yds. It made a nice little group on the edge of that paper though. At any rate needless to say I always shoot my rifle when I arrive at my hunting grounds.
