shed hunting

RE: shed hunting
Just go out and look, simple as that. Though youwould want to start a little sooner thanJune, say Jan-Feb-March. All the new spring growth can make spotting a shed difficult. Try looking along fence lines, active deer trails and bedding areas. I'm sure some other will chime in with some help.

Yup^...pretty much as simple as that..just start walking about in heavy traffic areas and near places bucks need to jump over fences or have a lot of low branches above their heads. And yes starting in like february is ideal...most will be pretty chewed up by now.

Make sure you walk slow, you can easily walk right past one if you are walking too fast. Check near a known feeder if you have permission. (homeade feeder, bait pile) I found three there this spring. Check road ditches where deer cross. Found one there a couple years ago. If you had a corn field standing over winter that's usually a good spot to look. If you turkey hunt that is also a great time to look. Remember you're not in a race, you'll find way more if you go slow.
