Weather for Hanging Deer
What rule do you use for hanging deer in regards to spoilage.
Obviously, it if is freezing every night you are good to go. But let’s say it is 35 for a low and 50 for a high temp. Is that okay for several days? 40deg at night Okay?
Where is the limit and what are the signs to look for to get your deer to a processor before spoilage?

I know I won't have problem this weekend it will be plenty cold enough.
Three of my hunting buddies were discussing it and I was wondering what the general hunting public thinks.

I would think that if it gets down to 35 at night the meat would get well chilled and could then handle a 50 degree daytime temperature if it is kept in a shady spot. But that would just be for maybe a day or two. If you are looking at several days, I likely wouldn't mess around with leaving a deer hang unless it was under 40 pretty much all of the time. Much easier to just cut it up and keep it in ice chests.

i just put my meat in an ice chest for a couple days. i keep ice on it and prop up the "non drainage side" of the ice chest a few inches high and pull the drain plug. this way as the ice melts, it flows out instead of soaking into the meat.
