You are 100% correct on that, even if the lease has a disclaimer on it. You get hurt on property you paid for, the landowner can be sued. YOu get hurt on "free" ground landowner is not liable for accidents of any kind.

We have a similar recreational use statute in Indiana. My home owner association just went through a big investigation as to wether we could be sued if guests died while using our lake. As non paying guests they are given no assurances that the lake is safe and use it at their own risk.
