After two hurricanes and lots of thunderstorms, my lease is wetter than i have ever seen it. I took my 3 1/2 yr old out for a weekend get away, but we were landlocked by flooded creeks that were impassable. I really couldn't go anywhere to scout b/c the water was so deep. Further, due to the heavy rainfall, the mosquittos were thicker than you can imagine. If you walked out into the grass, you were guaranteed to have no less than 50 mosquittos on you in about 5 seconds.
I still plan on bow hunting, but this year will be a bit of a challenge. I probably won't hunt as hard, partly b/c with this water level, i can't get around. Our season opens 9/25 here in Central Fl. THis will be a real test for the thermacell.

You're not the only one who has to deal with the water, so do the deer. I'd get some hip boots or waders and fine the high ground(that's were the deer wil be)and the food (they still need food). Water which is their other need is readily avaiable so don't get to concerned with it. If you can get between food and higher ground where the deer will bed you may just have the best season in years. All that water should really condense travel patterns and if you can find the travel lanes you should see plenty of deer. And on the bright side, Ivan looks like he's going West.

I know the feeling, we haven't had the hurricanes as bad as yall but Ivan is heraded straight at us so my lease is already wet and like you will be under water.

Good point on the travel patterns. However, our creeks are deep which makes crossing them with a truck or atv impossible but game can still travel the inside edges of these heavily treed creeks without a problem. My challenge is getting around the property since i can't make it through the creeks, which surround our property. Using chest waders may help in some cases so i may try that. We have gators, but not tons on my property. I still worry about them when cutting across a creek with chest waders and water up to my chest (at 5am in the dark).
Oh well, will need to work extra hard this season.
