I have had 4 stolen 2 within 200 yds of my front door, one was a Loc-on and chained and locked to the tree, they left the steps.Another one was lader stand chained and locked they took every thing with it.
Had one on some leased properity that was a climer chained and locked.
Several years ago I took a teenage boy bow hunting with me on a small tract of land I had leased close to a houseing development,he didn't have a stand so he borrowed his fathers, when we went back in that evening I told him I was going to leave my stand because we were coming back the next morning before day light. When we came out that night he had left his dads stand too.The next morning before day light we went to our stands,I marked the trail were I had taken of the main trail and went to where the stand was susposed to be it wasn't there and I was sure I was at the right tree.I went back to the main trail and waited till light enough to see and went back to the tree and sure enough my stand was gone,In a few minutes here comes the young fellow and they had taken his also.To this day I have wondered how anyone knew where those 2 stands were,we were in them till dark and was going to be back in them before light the next morning.

Check out the sticks at www.eioutdoors.com I just got mine and I am hanging them next week in a spot that I have been scared to hang in before. They are solid - piece of cake to use

Having treestands stolen sucks but about 25% of the time they are for legit reasons.Cant count how many times ive had stands put less then 50 yards from the mine on same trail.Cant count how many times people thought they new the property line but trespassed.Cant count how many times people hung a stand on 2 property edges facing the land the dont have permission to hunt.Cant count left stands up on public lands that need to be taken down nightly.I HAVE NEVER STOLEN A STAND MYSELF BUT CAN SEE HOW IT HAPPENS...................

IMHO, there is no LEGIT reason for stealing a tree stand. It's a classic oxymoron. Even if found on private property, all you need to do is notify authorities, remove it, and if no one comes to the property owner or authorities within thirty days to claim it, it's yours.
