RUL- I use a stick to make mine .I take the stick hold it sideways make the scrape then take the point of the stack to make like hoof prints digging in the dirt.

i just use my hunting boots to dig out a 3 foot area under a overhanging limb. i don't wear my hunting boots anywhere but in the woods.
