How good is the Primo's Buck Growl??
#11
I couldn't agree more with IL-Cornfed. I don't use it for roar as much as I use it as I would any other grunt tube. It just has a much better sound than anything else I have used. I look at this call like I look at all calls. You just can't go into the woods and blow on a tube and shoot a record book buck. You have to know what mood the deer are in and what will work best on a given day at a specific time of year. For instance I used the roar on a day that I knew we had a lot of buck and doe activity and sure enough I have an 11 pointer on my wall who couldn't resist.

It's become my favorite call in the deer woods. It's an outstanding sounding, deep guttural, authentic tone that seems to attract more animals than any other grunter I've used in the past. Also, when actually used as a "roar' or growler it doesn't break or cut out or have that ducky sound like similar calls, such as the MAD Growl does. Just a better all around call, in my humble opinion.

It's a very situational call like already mentioned. If the conditions are right, look out. But finding those conditions can be tough depending on where you live and your deer herd dynamics.

i scared away a nice deer last year with the MAD growl, so i threw it in the garbage. i went back the following day using my trustee Knight & Hale grunt tube and called in a buck within muzzle loader range. he came straight to me grunting back with every step untill he was within 100 yards and i dropped the hammer on him.

I have been using the true talker for as long as I can remember and i tell you I will swear by it, and garauntee once you find that right pitch you will call deer in. I have no idea what I'm saying but it must be good because I have realed in some slammers. Other calls work but I know for a fact the True talker is no joke, versitile and quiet.

I like it becuase it's loud - I also try to have a 'basic' grunt call along as well...
For example last year I could see a buck on the other side of a picked corn field working a fence line (for sure he was rutting) - long long ways away. Was able to get his attention by doing some super loud grunts... He jerked his head up and starting trotting my way.
There was no way that my 'normal' grunt call could have gotten his attention - just isn't loud enough...
Just another call to have in the bag of tricks...
