I only own two CF rifles a 1974Remington 30-06 and a 1995Browning A-Bolt SS w/Boss in the same cartridge. The remington has a leupold 3-9x whereas the browning has a leupold 3.5x10. I feel very comfortable with both weapons.Since the browning weighs a tad less issomewhat more accurateand has the better scope it is my go to gun. Last year each took a buck but I may use my T/C Omega when i hunt locally instead of the remington but when i go up to Saskatchewan, Canadamy A-bolt will be the only one I will consider.

Man I don't know.. I used to only have 1 deer rifle which was a Weatherby 243 Vangard VGL.. Which I have since retired until my Son gets old enough to shoot it.. But I have been on a buying spree and have 6 others to choose from..
.. But if I was going to pick it would be either the Model 7 243 or the Ruger Compact in 7mm08.

Mine as far as a gun is my Remington 870. w/fully rifled barrel. It shoots great and I've killed more deer with it than any other gun. My wife bought it for me years ago. I've changed the barrel and stocks and added a see through scope mount and scope.
Though I've killed more with a bow than gun. I'd rather carry a bow. I just like getting close. Of course you can get close with a gun too. But if I decide to take a gun out my 870 is usually my choice

Mathews LX bow...
Tried rifle hunting and I like it but all of my big game kills have been with a bow. 12 deer including Mulie's and Blacktail. Bull elk, both Rosevelts and Rocky Mtn and Rio Grand turkeys all with a bow.
Shoot a Remington 870 for ducks and goose.
I noticed nobody has mentioned Winchester, I do own a pre-1964 model 70 in 30-06. Shooting a Nosler Partion @165 grains with Reloader 22 powder, 3x9 scope and a traditional american walnut stock.
I also have a Hawkin .50 traditional muzzleloader which I set up with a peep sight, no scopes or inlines allowed in Oregon. I really like the muzzleloader but have not taken any game with it.
In Oregon, you must choose which weapon you are to use for the big game season. I noticed in other states you have multiple options for taking your deer. We don't have that option. Its what ever you apply for gun, bow, or muzzleloader. If you are an archer you can only take deer and elk with a bow unless you draw a special permit and those are for does most of the time. You can hunt Bears with what ever is approved but no baiting or hounds so its pretty much spot and stalk, have you seen these mountains.
