DONT get me wrong, I LOVE the Hanson head and agree that it DESERVES to be #1 Typ. But I feel it's a case of being #1 because a large frame 6x6 is just what "the doctor ordered" for MAXIMIZING potential score as the scoring system is written.

I have a wealthy friend in Memphis who has the most amazing trophy "cabin" out behind his house and he actually has the licensed replica mounts of the "Hole in the Horn" buck (another "not the biggest by the books" but biggest by impression when you can hold the horns in your hands!) as well as the Hanson buck and two other true GIANTS that I think are THE most impressive typicals of all time... the former #1 Jordan buck and what I truly feel is THE most "IMPRESSIVE" and largest framed buck off ALL time, the Breen buck which was #1 before the Jordan buck!!!

The Breen head is just a GOLIATH that you can actually fit the Hanson head inside of! But being that the Breen buck is only a 5x5 it just doesn't add up score wise like a 6x6 (Hanson) does. The Jordan head is a brute because of it's outstanding "clean mass" that overshadows it's great length and like the Breen head, it is a 5x5 so it doesn't score as well either. The Breen head has beams OVER 31" and ALL of the G2, 3s and 4s are OVER 12" long!

BUT I look at it like this, if the Hanson head AND either of the Breen or Jordan heads were standing side by side in the woods and you had to chose which one... from a simple "largest frame" and which head looks just BIGGER and casts the biggest shadow and has the larger silohette, you'd be pulling the trigger on the giant 5x5s first!

Yep, the Hanson buck may be #1, but I'll take either of those other two studs over it with the mass they both have, especially that 5x5 to score as high as he did!

I have seen both the Hanson and Jordan bucks both at Bass pro in Springfield. Both are awesome deer. The Jordon buck is so impressive due to its mass, unbelievable.

useta read NAW religiously, lots of stories about morris, the big bucks he shot were mostly either recovered by a trailing dog, or found as a pickup couple weeks later, always figured him as a rich guy who couldn't shoot.
