buckbomb..
I will concede that about the eastern shore. It may as well be a separate state from western maryland. Democrats are even scarce out there.

well i live on the eastern shore and love it now i do heve some acesss to good property but there is tons of public land and let me tell you some monster bucks are taken off of them........duck hunting, nothing gets better then duck hunting on the chesapeake, sea duckin is loads of fast paced fun, mallards are fun just finding the property is sometimes difficult but could not be too hard with being a biologist..........geese are a favorite aroung my parts and will put you to the test........The eastern shore is way less crowded than any other part of the state and annapolis is close so hittin the bars in the offseason will be no problem...........never been to iowa so i dont know...........you also have fishin for rockfish during the summer on the chesapeake..........i love where i live and would never change it for anything but its alla personal choice
I knew someone from Maryland would speak up. I've never been there but Chesapeake, by James Michner, has to about be my favorite novel. The question was about deer though and for deer I waould go with Iowa. You point out that there plenty of things there to keep an outdoorsman occupied and I'd love to give your state a visit.

I live on the eastern shore as well. I am lucky to have some private hunting spots and for now, I don't have to pay for them (I do help at harvest time and do things to help when I can) The thing that would deter me from coming to this state is the taxes. The central part of this state, Baltimore, p g county, mont county rule this state with a very liberal hand. The taxes just went thru the roof and the governor is already wanting more. I do live close to Delaware, so I can shop some there to get away from the sales tax, De has none. If I were just starting out, I would probably look somewhere other than here, unless I was very liberal in my political views. It seems a lot of people in this state don't care, they just keep voting in the dems.

I grew up in pg county md , and spent alot of time in and around baltimore , the eastern shore and so fourth, you said the job would be around baltimore . Ill put it to ya like this the crime rate is out of control , the racial problems , cost of living and unless you drive 1 to 2 hours from baltimore you aint gonna get no decent place to live and its gonna be sky high not counting the traffic jams you will get in take my opinion and go to Iowa Im not knocking what maryland has to offer sportsman wise but I lived there and still have family there if I was young and getting started , and sometime down the road gonna meet the right wife and have a family it wouldnt be maryland for no amount of money. Head to the country like i did get a peice of mind and leave the bull crap in the city I live in good ol WVA now hillbilly capitol of the world

Funny, Iowa is one of 3 other states I aply for deer tags the past few years. I love MD, Ive been bowhunting here for 26 years and havebeen very successful, but, if I had to choose based on your situation, I'd be on my way to Iowa. Several main reasons, the first is because Ive hunted here for 26 years lol, cost of houses and property, traffic, human population, private hunting property competition, I could go on but I think you get the point.MD does have some things you could never get in Iowa. Incredible offshore fishing, Chesapeake Bay, beaches and bikini's galore, fresh blue crabs, plenty of things to do andbeing placed right in the middle of the East Coast lots ofdestinations within a few hours drive.Have fun in Iowa and I hope you find that deer hunting mecca we all dream about.

Choose Maryland if you like people, and lots of them. Many of whom you will hate, and who will hate you just because you are a hunter. Never lived in Iowa so I can't really say anything about that state.

Iowa is a grate place.
Here in Maryland we have in the last 5 yrs gained alot of public hunting property . The State bought about 10,000 or more acres from the Lumber companies. With work into scouting a big buck can be had. I prefer
Hunting private property , but do know of some grate Public pieces that are not hunted Heavy.
If you come to maryland to work ,send me an Email or PM and you can Hunt with me on a piece of private property in Cambride, Dorchester County. By the way I live 7-10 miles from the Heart of Baltimore and the Houses run $200,000 to $500,000 in GOOD NEIGHBORHOODS this is in Baltimore County , NOT THE CITY.
