Default Awesome Experience

I just wanted to share this story. I was hunting a fence row behind my parent’s home yesterday when I had probably the coolest experience I have had in the woods. I was sitting on a fold out stool on the ground when I noticed movement coming down a trail leading out of a wooded area. At first I thought it was a coyote sulking through the undergrowth then it stepped out of the woods. It was a mother Bobcat and a kitten. Now I live in southern Indiana and Bobcats were just reintroduced to the area a couple years ago and that was a good 60-70 miles away from where I was at. The coolest thing is that it passed only about 10 ft away from me. I was sitting stiller then I every thought I could. I had heard that they were not that aggressive but since there was a kitten with her I was unsure. Seeing a Bobcat is a big thing around my area and having it pass that close was just incredible.

They're also protected in our state, looking is all you can do unless it does attack. Cool experience, but I'd rather view Mama Bobcat from a climber just to be on the safe side.

One time I was hunting during deer gun season in OK, late afternoon, strong cold front following foul weather. I was sitting on a log in very heavy cover, full grown bobcat comes in and walks right up the log I'm sitting on! It got to within 3 - 4 feet of me, I was starting to get nervous. It saw me and stopped, then BACKED UP to the base of the log and continued on it's way.

Deer hunting is so cool, you get to see cool stuff and have really fun experiences.

I had a buddy that year before last was hunting on the ground and watched two bobcats about 100 yards away on a fence row when out of the corner of his eye he catches movement and snatches his rifle up to shoot a third bobcat mid air trying to attack him. His 308 blow the cat back but he never found it.

So I shoot now you never know when one has rabies.

Yeah, I saw one the other day when I was turkey hunting. It was after the same bunch of turkeys I was after. I was kinda cool that we were after the same thing, yet he didn't know I was there. It added an extra challenge to the hunt, trying not to spook it, and yet try not to spook the turkeys too. I think that if I had got close enough to it, I would have shot it instead of a turkey. I would love to have a bobcat mounted. They are classified as a varmint around here and you can shoot them any time of year.
