What Rifle Should I get for Deer Hunting

Better yet, find some buddies with different rifles and shoot them and see what works for you. 270, 30-06, or 7mm Rem Mag will do all you need. Also might look at a .308 or 280, both great deer rounds.

I also hunt thick brush and heavily wooded areas and you CANT go wrong with a Remington 7600 pump carbine in 30-06. I do it all with this rifle.... still hunt, stand hunt, track etc. It has an 18 1/2" barrel (short for thick woods), its a 30-06 (versatility & can take down anything the country has to offer), Very well balanced, its a pump action (fast follow up shots if needed & very reliable)which you are also already very familar with, and very accurate. It isalsoveryclose in price to a marlin 30-30 but with more to offer then that cartridge. Seriously check it out, pick one up and hold it to your shoulder. You cant go wrong with it for the type of hunting you are talking about.

well it all depends on your price range. company's i would look into would be Weatherby or Winchester, but thats all personal opinion. I would def go with a 30-06 though!

i agree with savage if you can shoot a 12 gauge & heavy shot , you wont have a prob. with a 30-06
